Here, I show you how my beloved hot glue gun was my savior yet again.
All of these items, I owned previously. The mirror is the one that hung in the nursery from the time that Avery was born until Jack outgrew his crib and I redecorated his room (Incidentally, I got that mirror on clearance at Homegoods and painted it offwhite.) The curtain rod is the one that was on that window when we moved in- I just glued the huge shell over the phinial that was there. And the light switch? I just glued some barnacles to it, that I had lying around the house for an added ocean touch.
That’s right. I had barnacles lying around the house. Don’t judge me.
Mostly, the shells you see in these pictures are shells that we have either collected on the beach over the years, or that we have bought in resort town gift shops. (A few of them I picked up at Michaels- namely the star fish and the large shells that are now used to decorate the curtain rods.)
Even if you had to pick them all up at a craft store, it would still be an economical way to add tasteful character to your child’s ocean themed room. Take a look below:
With 6 young kids between us, we are trying to manage the demands of home and motherhood, and start a catering business- Valley Girls Gourmet. Here we share some of our recipes, tips for the busy mom, tricks for decorating on a dime, and hopefully a few laughs, too.
