1. Julie has a good piece of advice for us this week: When doing laundry it is always a good idea to check clothes pockets for cloves of garlic before putting them in the dryer. I was wondering why those italian men were following her around all day…
2. As part of my Mom’s birthday present this year, my brothers and I are helping her sort all our old childhood photos, etc. Oh man were there some gems in there. Whilst doing this, I discovered that I am an artist! I gave this self portrait to my parents one year as a gift. My poor parents.
3. My brother tells me it is a pretty accurate representation of myself. Ouch.
4. Yes, Julie. I ACTUALLY posted this picture for the public to see. See: “No Shame” Monday Musings, March 12.
5. I hope my kids’ memories of childhood are as fond as the memories I have of mine. I hope I can find the right balance for them, so that they have a lot of the same freedoms I had growing up: riding bikes all over the neighborhood and playing outside with friends until dark, and hunting the woods for little streams, or treasures. I think these things are so important for character building, learning responsibility, and just feeling capable.
With 6 young kids between us, we are trying to manage the demands of home and motherhood, and start a catering business- Valley Girls Gourmet. Here we share some of our recipes, tips for the busy mom, tricks for decorating on a dime, and hopefully a few laughs, too.
